The letter S, in dark yellow, in a curvy handrawn style Scribbles Updates

Changelog

  • πŸš€ Added a new option to allow you to share posts, using a unique URL, when a post is in a draft state. That means you can share these drafts with anyone with the link. Great for sharing a work in progress post. Give it a try and you'll find a new option, once you're viewing a draft, in the posts options (the gear icon). You'll see a "Shared" state on the post list, which you can click to open it. You'll also have access to a "View post" button on the post editor page that takes you there also. Shared links are unique across the whole platform and are cleared once you publish the post. You always have the option to disable the shared link by unticking the box.
  • 🧹 Added options to delete and download drafts on the edit screen. When a draft is shared you will also have the "View post" button.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue where the "ALT" button would still appear in the editor even if you don't have an image.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue that would cause blogs with multiple domains (this is a "by request" feature) to not always bring back the correct data. Scribbles will now automatically redirect an "old" domain to the new one for all pages & posts.
  • πŸ›πŸ˜… Fixed an issue that would cause an error to show when going to the Assets page when you had no images in the first place.
  • 🧹 Made a few underlying tweaks to speed up loading of certain pages.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue with image uploads getting stuck in the background due to recent config changes with our provider. Hopefully this fixes some of the broken images when editing posts (if not, please re-upload, and you should see the original in "Assets").
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue that caused background processes to fail, for example checking domain names, or generating Komments for your posts, backups and many others. Sorry about that.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue that could cause an RSS feed to return a 404 error when you have 2 or more domains set for your blog (this is not a feature that is enabled by default). Also fixed an issue that would cause a 404 for all feeds πŸ˜…
  • 🧹 Made some tweaks to wording and layouts, plus fixed some spelling mistakes and wrong input hints/placeholders. Simplified a few things whilst I was at it.
  • 🧹 When using the shoutouts.page embed it previously used the old URL for the embed script instead of the .page one which would cause a redirect when fetching it β€” so now it's one less roundtrip.
  • πŸš€ Added a Nitpick option to set the font size of articles and pages. Options are "Small", "Normal", "Large" and "Extra Large".
Set your content size using the dropdown.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue with adding the Letterbird header setting on a post page.
  • πŸ‘Ύ Added an option to show the header icon or name on your Letterbird contact form (if enabled). Check out their documentation on what it does. Scribbles will add the `data-showheader` attribute to the embed script.
  • πŸš€ Added the ability to hide posts that belong to a certain category on your main timeline/homepage, including archives and your RSS feed. Head on over to any category of your choice and select the "hide from main timeline" option. You can still view your posts if you navigate to the category on your site β€” the category RSS feed will also show these posts. Great for the time when you want to have a specific feed for certain posts that you don't want to show on your main blog. Categories with hidden posts will have a closed eye symbol next to them in the admin area.
Hide your posts on the main timeline for the specific category.
  • πŸ‘Ύ Added the ability to add a custom domain even when you're not subscribed yet. Nothing like just trying it out ✌️
  • 🧹 The post preview screen will no longer try and load the Kudos count if it's enabled. You'll still see the placeholder button though.
  • πŸ‘ΎπŸš€ Added preliminary support for shortcodes within the editor. This is super basic right now. For YouTube embeds use: `{{yt:1234567}}` with 123456 being the video code, similar you can also add Vimeo: `{{vimeo:1234567}}`. Next year I will work on a more dynamic way to pick a shortcode where it allows you to just add it without trying to remember. Of note, embeds within text will not work, so they have to be added on their own line. Still a little experimental.
    Embedded YouTube video.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue where the new page width setting wouldn't apply to the category pages (because I missed it).
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue where some custom CSS wasn't rendered correctly when it contained quotes.
  • πŸ‘ΎπŸš€ You can now add Plausible and Cloudflare Analytics to your blog by adding the relevant information on your blog settings -> Analytics & Kudos. You can mix and match all of them, or just one or the other, it's up to you. Leave empty to disable. Of course I think Tinylytics is the better option here πŸ˜…πŸ˜‹
  • πŸ‘Ύ Expanded the export option to add Markdown export also. It will use the same format as the HTML export, including file names. Just select the format you would like. There is more for me to do here that I would like to tackle, like a full static site export β€” but that will have to wait (my brain is melting from trying). Also now shows what format your backup is in. Note: Still very experimental and will listen to feedback on this.
Blog Export showing you different options.
  • πŸ‘Ύ Added an option to tweak your page width for your blog. This will affect the maximum width of the post list, pages and post content, including the archives page. The Header and Footer area will still remain the same. Find the option in your Nitpick settings.
  • 🧹 Tweaked the layout of the Nitpick settings screen to try and organise it a little bit more β€” more to do (as always).
  • πŸš€ Launched the ability to create a header menu on your blog. Read more about it here on the blog.
  • πŸš€ Launched site search for your visitors. Enabled by default, and disabled for existing blogs (didn't want to mess with the zen). Read more about it here on the blog.
  • πŸ‘Ύ Tweaked the order of blog settings to try and break it up a little β€” more for me to do here and I'll work on making settings better as time goes, just needs some background processing in my brain.
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue that would cause site passcodes (for private blogs) to be stored in plain text, instead of encrypted. Passcodes have been migrated to an encrypted value now. This was an oversight on my part πŸ˜’
  • πŸ› Fixed an issue where a backup would fail because it would try and download an attachment in a post when none existed.
