a heart that becomes very small

This morning while making up my coffee with my moka I was scrolling the incoming chats from last evening (I do have setup a privacy mode that triggers up at 21:00 and so I don't have notifications after that time). Among many futile things I went through Luca's input about this year's World Press Photography contest.

Beware, the linked photo is called “A Father’s Pain” and it's not for the faint of heart. Mine has become very small. Just moments before I was in our double bed holding my son's hand [*].

[*] yes, he's still small enough to feel the need, during the night, to reach us in the bed and hold one of your hands.

[**] as a side note, in Italy we say ‘cuore piccolo piccolo’ that literally translates as ‘small small heart’. In Italian the expression has a delicate note that I find lost in English translation. Maybe there's an equivalent expression I don't know that's used in those situations? Let me know …
