Registration is open again

During the weekend I finally found the time to open back up registrations for Scribbles.

My real reason for closing up was that it had a lot of spam accounts, that just flooded Scribbles — I manually went through most blogs that I didn't know and flagged them and disabled the accounts. That lead me to create an invite system.

There were a few posts I have found on the web, not that I check much except page analytics, that linked back from other blogs that specifically mention wanting to check out Scribbles. So that left me with enough motivation to come up with a plan. Invites was one of them.

So, to that end, I have opened up registration once again — I've added safeguards on emails that sign up, so it'll check if they are throwaway addresses or just bad actors. Secondly for new accounts, you will now have a 30 day trial after signing up for a subscription — you won't get charged until 30 days are over. This is not ideal, however I find it a good way to thwart of spammers — and probably others too, but I have to find a balance.

30 days is a good time to get used to it and see what you think.

Now, if you come in via an invite — which is from a fellow Scribbler/blogger that has been here for a while and is subscribed — you can skip all this, and get 25 posts for free and take your time getting comfy and blogging. No rush.

I think this is a good compromise...
