Image previews option and tweaks
UpdatesLate last week, thanks to Sticker Spotter, I worked on general improvements on handling posts with just images. The problem being that short posts (posts without title), with a non-expanded post page, or just on your archive page, would render... nothing. That obviously isn't good at all.
I also noticed this on other blog posts that came through on the Explore Shorts page, where it would render just the date and the grey outline of where text would be. Well, no more. Now it does the right thing and fetches the image.
It was well worth the effort to get this to work. Although not perfect, it certainly looks much better.
Article image previews
Next up I finally enabled a hidden option that allows you to show an image preview on your post list, if it has one. Find it in Nitpick options for your blog.
With that enabled, it will grab the first image in your post and display it alongside your text — if you have text that is. Here is what that looks like:
Nice and simple — it also slightly rotates as you hover over it. On smaller screens, the image will show at the bottom of the excerpt from your post.
There could be some edge cases here, so let me know if you find anything weird — there is only so much I can think of.
Hope you enjoy it.
