Autosaving
New FeaturesThe time has come, after many months of sitting on it (and some feedback), to slowly roll out auto-saving for when you write your next post. It's automatic and doesn't get in your way.
Every time you start a new post, it will start saving your post as a draft in the background with a simple indicator for piece of mind.
Everything is covered and it'll include your categories, publish date, any images and alt text, and of course the text itself.
You'll see a new auto-save indicator near the Save & Publish button. It'll initially be white but turn green after it auto-saved. It'll animate every time it's updating. You can click on it for more info, including a timestamp when it was last saved.
Each post that is auto-saved will always be set to "draft" and that's where you will find it if you somehow accidentally lost it or not.
I've got a small intro to this to show you if you want to see it in action, and I apologise for any typos (I blame the keyboard for missing letters).
Right now it's on by default and I might expose that as a user option at some stage so you can toggle this off and on.
The only thing it won't save right now is if you change any of the post options, for example enabling the contact form or comments — that might come at a later stage.
Anyway, hope this will improve a few things and you will feel a little bit more confident in writing longer form content.
