Instant Coffee
Having now written this post I’ll preface by saying that this post really rambles on about coffee. I share no tips nor will you learn anything. In fact, like all my posts so far, it’s rather dull. Ironically you will probably need a coffee just to get through it.
Ugh. Monday. Is there a more depressing day of the week? After two glorious mornings of not waking up to work Monday then rears its ugly head. I’ll wake up and start thinking about what I have to achieve this coming week and all the meetings and deadlines… I’m already counting down to Friday.
Like a lot of people I reach for a coffee in the morning and more so on a Monday. It’s generally the only treat between waking up and starting work.
I’m British, and we are big drinkers of instant coffee which is freeze dried in a jar that you add boiling water to. It’s convenient for sure but generally tastes like dishwater compared to fresh coffee. I am not even sure how popular instant coffee is elsewhere in the world. When I’m at work I’ll drink instant coffee as that is what is provided free by the company (like most workplaces here I imagine).
Recently my wife bought me a Philips L’or machine for my birthday which is basically a cheap (but very good) Nespresso machine and now I am overdosing on coffee. The main downside (other than making it easy to make a coffee of a significant magnitude greater than instant coffee) is that it dispenses coffee into cups the size of a thimble. I generally like a good-sized cup of coffee but I guess this is a case of quality over quantity.
The other downside is that I can’t stand black coffee so have to add milk and by the time I’ve done that my thimble-sized cup of coffee goes from being moderately hot to lukewarm. Yes I could warm up some milk but that’s another chore and I’ve normally got my hands full in the morning trying to get the kids to eat some cereal without them throwing it on the floor (or on me)…
