The patriarchy

Saw this posted on Mastodon as part of the Man or Bear discussion that’s been happening for a while. I thinks it’s a really interesting article and made me see things a bit clearer. In particular these two quotes really resonated with me:

Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.

and

Actually, the most common question I get about my travels is some version of, “Aren’t you afraid to bike/hike/travel alone as a woman?” By naming my gender, the implication is clear. What people really mean is, “Aren’t you afraid of men?”
