Weather Today for Android

Android

I've tried many weather apps for Android over the years, and my current favorite is Weather Today.

Weather Today is a modern, freemium weather app for Android, created by German developer Michael Kokoschka. It features a pleasant Material You design, and all the features you could want from a weather app.

The app's main screen features the location, current weather, radar preview, hourly forecast, air quality, sunrise and sunset times, and the current phase of the moon. You can tap the calendar icon in the Hourly Forecast section to get today's forecast.

Weather Today also has a radar feature that many weather apps seem to be missing. This allows you to view the current cloud cover, as well as fast forward in time to view upcoming precipitation, wind speed, and more.

The forecast screen includes a 7-day forecast, allowing you to tap on each day to get more information about the forecast for that specific day. This screen also shows precipitation totals, sunrise and sunset times, moon phases, and more information for the next 7 days.

You can choose to add multiple locations and organize your locations by group. The app can use location permissions to show you the weather for your current location, wherever you may be. The free version uses OpenWeatherMap as the source. A subscription gets you access to Apple Weather (AKA Dark Sky). Paying also gets you some additional customization options for icons, the ability to add additional details to the Today screen, and change the style of the radar, among other things. Of course paying also supports the developer.

If you're looking for a great weather app for Android, you can't go wrong with Weather Today. For me personally, it has everything I need from a weather app along with a great Material design.
