Things Happening and Things Yet to Happen
I just realized I haven't posted here in 9 days. My goal was to post weekly but I guess I shouldn't force it. Not much going on lately, as this is a pretty boring time of year.
I fixed a bathroom faucet last week. Today I replaced that faucet because it wasn't fixed. Go figure. I hate plumbing. Eventually we will completely redo the bathroom that my wife and I use, but we're not quite ready for that project yet, so the faucet just gets replaced for now. The whole project is going to involve ripping out a spa tub, the shower stall, the double sink, and replacing the flooring after replacing all that other stuff. My back hurts just thinking about it. As does my wallet.
A few things coming up:
- One of my teenage daughters is going to the Dominican Republic in April for a school trip. I'm nervous as hell. This will be the furthest she's been away from us without a parent. She's a responsible and smart kid. She'll be with other students and several chaperones and tour guides, but it's still nerve wracking. I'm excited for her though, because she'll get to do all kinds of stuff like snorkeling, white water rafting, and spelunking.
- My wife is going to San Francisco with her parents for a family reunion in May. We also don't spend much time apart so it'll be weird when she's gone for several days. I'll probably try to meet up with some friends for a concert or something.
- Speaking of concerts, my daughter and I are going to see Neck Deep in Baltimore on Tuesday night. We're very excited about that! Look out for a review of the show over on the Shrediverse blog. The other teenager gets to go see Laufey twice with her mom, once in April and once in May.
Another thing on my mind is continuing to teach the twins how to drive so they can get their license this year. One of them is way more ready than the other. We also need to get them a car. They want summer jobs to make a little money, so we'll see how that goes. The thought of them driving is another thing that keeps me up at night.
Since we did such a big summer vacation last year (Seattle after the wedding) we're going to keep it low key this year and just go to my in-laws’ at the Eastern shore for a few days. Maybe we'll do a day trip to DC since the youngest daughter hasn't been to the museums since she was too little to remember.
