Some Thoughts and Things
What a week this has been. Work has been very stressful. One of the guys on my team, the only other person on my shift, had to take the week off at the last minute to take care of some family matters. When you’re already working with a bare minimum crew, it’s really tough being down a man. So I had a lot on my plate this week and I’m exhausted. Thankfully dinner with my wife and kids tonight was a lot of fun. It was taco night, but somehow I ended up doing a funny French accent most of the evening. My wife took the girls out to use some gift cards they had, and to get some things for their friends for Valentine’s day, so I got a couple hours of quiet time.
Tomorrow we’re going to this Chocolate Escape thing here in town. All I can say is by tomorrow evening I am going to be 87% chocolate. More chocolate than human. I mean…Mexican hot chocolate ice cream sandwich? C’mon! I will have a medical staff on standby just in case.
Tech related things
If you follow me on Mastodon, you know I’m a big fan of the Kagi search engine. It gives great results, is private and ad-free, allows visual customization, and lets you manage the priority of sources in the results. It also focuses on promoting indieweb content in search resultsand offers an RSS feed of indieweb sites and blogs that they index. I’ve found a number of great blogs from this RSS feed that I now enjoy frequently. The amount of great user-generated content in this feed is astonishing. However, I have taken to asking PerplexityAI for quick answers. Like tonight when I asked it to give me the oldest presidents ordered by age from oldest to youngest, and I got a list of the top 5, with linked sources, photos, and additional details.
Speaking of Presidents
I don’t talk about politics a lot but recently I’ve seen a lot of peopel giving Joe Biden shit for messing up words. Yes, the man is older than dirt, but who doesn’t mess up words once in a while. Especially when speaking in public. Even if he is senile, he’s still a better option than Trump FFS. Vote for the old guy now so we can try not to slide head first into fascism and try for someone younger in 4 years.
Music stuff
Sleep Token has become absolutely insanely huge. This band that was playing 2000 capacity venues last year is now selling out the O2 arena in London for their tour in November. Tickets were selling so fast they added an additional night at the O2 and another night at the Leeds First Direct Arena. WTF. Speaking of tickets selling out, I was unable to get ticket to their show closest to me which will be at The Met in Philly. Someone seriously messed up by not booking them in Baltimore or DC, both of which have venues that are plenty large enough. I’m still hoping they add a DC date to the US tour soon. I do have one concert coming up though. I got my daughter Neck Deep tickets for Christmas. We’ll be seeing them at Rams Head in Baltimore in a little over a week. Very excited!
Oh, apparently we’re having a Super Bowl party on Sunday because my 11-year-old stepdaughter likes the Chiefs now thanks to Taylor Swift. Fine by me, Super Bowl snacks are the best. I will probably work on some of my personal projects during the game and look up for the commercials and halftime show. I want to see if Usher lives up to his name and shows people to their seats.
