Finally, A Weekend We've Been Waiting For
LifeThe weather in Virginia mostly cooperated this weekend, so we were able to get out and do some things. Saturday we went to lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants, Paladin Woolen Mill, and then we popped over to Misty Mountain Meadworks for a drink and a chat with some of the regulars.
Sunday we did a small hike, starting at Wolf Gap Recreation Area in Wardensville, WV. It's a very nice little camping and day hiking area with lots of room to put your tent and a couple trails to choose from. We did about a mile in and a mile back. The overlook in the following pictures is about half a mile in. I highly recommend this trail, though it is pretty steep and rocky at times.
It was a great weekend that we have been looking forward to having as soon as the weather was good, and I'm glad it was. We're hoping for good weather next weekend as well so we can take the kids on another hike with us.

Finally, we stopped by nearby North Mountain Winery where we enjoyed a glass and sat for a couple hours just talking about a bit of everything. If you can only make it to one winery in this area, this is the one to go to for the best wine.
After the hike we headed to one of our favorite wineries in the area, Muse Vineyards, for some food and drinks. The food here is great, we both had salmon on toast (it's basically bagels and lox but with a salad on top) and enjoyed a glass of wine while we walked around the beautiful grounds of the winery.
