Changelog August 5th — August 10th

I'm back from holiday. And yeah, I had my phone on me so I could do some minimal stuff last week — was kinda cool to work in the terminal on my machine... that sat at home. So here goes!

Homepage can be a real page now, Appearance gets proper header layout controls (with a live sketch), and custom domains get a bit more hand-holding when DNS is still catching up (or when blogs move away — totally cool).

August 5, 2026

• ✨ A page as your homepage — under Display you can set a published page as the site root. Blog title and about stay put; the post list lives on Archives like always. Optional archives link and a latest-posts strip under the page content if you still want a pulse of new writing. Custom themes get homepage_page in the starter kit if you’re rolling your own.

August 10, 2026

• ✨ Layout alignment — left, center, or right for Classic and Default. Header, content, and footer move together. Typewriter stays its own thing (and the header preview matches that).
• ✨ Header layout — under Appearance: logo shape (circle or rounded), size (S / M / L), title below / beside / hidden, and where the nav sits (after the description, above it, or under the title when it’s beside the image). There’s a little live skeleton on the settings page so you’re not guessing — it even picks up your accent colour. Custom theme docs list the new blog.header_* bits if you need them. • ✨ Minimal or compact latest posts — when a page is the homepage and you’ve got “latest posts” on, pick Minimal (date + title) or Compact (summaries and previews). Options are good... and I am trying to be good with hiding things when you don't need them to avoid cluttering the UI too much.
• 💅 Explore header — when signed in, you can collapse the Explore header to a chip row. Preference sticks in the browser. Just when you had too much of inspiration quotes and just want to see the posts. 😋
• ✨ Custom domain lifecycle — if a domain sits pending, you’ll get a setup help email after a couple of days, then a heads-up before we clean up unused hostnames. If a once-working domain stops pointing at Scribbles, we mark it pending and email you with the DNS to fix — fix it and we can bring it back automatically. Just you know... people come and go, so I want to keep things tidy, just like my desk.
