Changelog August 16th — August 26th

A lot landed since mid-August — just couldn't get to it yet. TLDR; You can remap public URLs, pick light or dark modes for your theme. Plus the usual polish and fixes.

August 16, 2026

• 🐛 JSON latest-posts — GET /api/v1/posts no longer returns archived posts in the latest list. See the JSON API.

August 17, 2026

• ✨ Public URL maps — in the blog’s URL map settings you can change the folders for posts, pages, archives, and categories, or switch to dated permalinks. Old paths keep working, so existing links don’t break.
• 🐛 GIF thumbs in the media library — opening the media library with GIFs in it was crashing. Thumbnails load again. Thanks Brandon for breaking things...

August 18, 2026

• 🐛 Header nav order — on the header / navigation settings, drag-reorder actually saves now.
• 🐛 Text between image galleries — in the post editor, copy sitting between two galleries was disappearing on save. It stays put now as was intended. Brandon... yes, you...
• 🐛 Kudos and views after a URL-map change — if you remapped /posts/, the kudos count and view counts on the post still follow the old path, so they don’t reset to zero.
• 🚀 Public pages — the live blog loads a bit faster (styles and scripts aren’t one giant bundle anymore). Worked hard on this, and things are nice and quick now. Also means your total page size is much smaller than before.

August 20, 2026

• ✨ Light / dark / auto — in Appearance you can set the blog to light, dark, or follow the visitor’s system. There’s an optional toggle on the public site if you want readers to pick for themselves. Shows a little floating picker — either top right or bottom right. Works with all built in themes.

August 21, 2026

• 🐛 Theme Editor — under Appearance → Theme Editor, uploading a big or rejected theme package used to kill the page. It doesn’t now. You can read about here: Custom themes. Sorry about that — still very... erm, Alpha/Preview for now.

August 22, 2026

• ✨ HEIC / HEIF — the JSON API and Micropub accept those photo formats (the editor already could). Header, Open Graph, and profile images are still PNG or JPEG.

• 💅 Post dates — on the public blog, published dates follow the blog’s language (not always English). So Japanese and others look correct.  2026年7月23日
• ✨ Tinylytics embed tweaks — If you're using your own Tinylytics site key, Scribbles will now route these internally to Tinylytics. One less third-party script. Always nice when you own the things.
• 🐛 Tinylytics paths — if you’re using your own Tinylytics site ID, hits use the same URL path as the live post, so the write page and Tinylytics line up. This was just small thing as we now allow URL mapping etc.
