November 15th, 2024 Indieweb

I've just spent the evening migrating my Mastodon profile from Mastodon.scot to 500.social.  As ever I seem to have lost a bunch of followers along the way, and I needed to manually import my connections.  Hopefully the migration will fill the gaps over the next day or so, they sometimes do, a few have trickled in while I've been writing.

The more complicated task was adjusting brid.gy and the indieconnector setup on my Kirby CMS website to send and receive webmentions.  I needed to set up the app on 500.social, replace the taken in my websites config file, and connect 500.social to brid.gy.  As you can see, all is now up and running properly below.

My main website is frustrating me a little at the moment, mainly around federation, I'm lazily finding scribbles/echofeed easier currently.  My website to Mastodon works quite well through indieconnector, my featured images upload directly as media to Mastodon when I post.  Posting to bluesky works less well as media neither uploads (not supposed to), or displays in the link card.  To resolve this I probably just need to build a bespoke feed for my template(s), federating through echoed instead.  Along with restructuring some of the data on the site, that is probably my project for December when I am largely not in work for the month.

Happy weekend!
