A Granny Recipe's Update
Hello! I thought I'd take a little break in our recipes to offer a little update and some new information I've uncovered.
When I first started this project, I mentioned that my copy of my great-grandmother's cookbook was actually my grandmother's. I inherited it when she passed away. Sadly, she was a smoker, and not one for cracking a window, so despite all my best efforts to preserve the cookbook it was ruined. I took it to work one day several years ago and ran it through the scanner before tossing the actual book itself.
In my haste, I didn't scan both sides of the paper. It was until I was typing up some recipes that I realized I was missing parts of them. So, I asked my mother to let me borrow her copy of the cookbook, soo I could take photos of all the back pages I missed. Today, I finished taking those photos.
This is what the cookbooks looked like.
The "k" has fallen off over the years on my mother's copy. After doing a little research, it looks like my great-grandmother handwrote ten of these books. Inside my mom's copy, she actually put the date down she gifted them, it was December 25th, 1984. My goal was to post a recipe a day, but I'm enjoying this more leisurely pace. I still haven't published all the recipes I've already transcribed and now I got to do a little extra research in matching up my scans that are missing the back pages and make sure everything stays in order. I also need to go back and expand the glossy post since there were more terms written on the back of those pages. I'm hoping to start making some of the recipes and adding some pictures when I get a bit more time. That'll probably be a few months from now. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and reading the recipes.
