WeblogPoMo Retrospective
blogging
Wow, is this really it? Did we really make it to the end of
WeblogPoMo? To be honest, it's slightly bittersweet...
You see, I hate doing things because I have to. I want to do things because I want to, not because something or someone told me to. The joy of doing something I love diminishes exponentially the more I am obligated to do it. This was different.
It pushed me outside of my comfort zone. It pushed me to write on days I didn't want to write. I had a list of topics I kept adding to but never wanted to write when the day came. I drafted a lot of my posts the first 5 days of the challenge, but after that, everything was written and decided the day of. I let my emotions that day dictate what to write about. Surprisingly, it worked out!
I've re-started posting on Wordpress early last year, but they were mostly photos, with a little bit of writing here or there. Half the time, those posts felt robotic, something that I just wanted to get out there just because. I absolutely did not put any heart into the words (although I did on the photos, don't get me wrong). The words were just empty companions of my photos.
They say 21 days makes a habit, and we're now 10 days past. Writing has become slightly easier, words are starting to fit in my sentences a little bit better. It's starting to feel like the early 2000s with personal blogs popping up again. Surprisingly, people are actually reading my posts and even commenting on them! I'm not one to seek validation on things like this, but sometimes it's just nice to know that I'm not just screaming into the void.
So WeblogPoMo may be ending, but I have a feeling that there may be more posts out of me yet. Here's to June, and supporting other bloggers thru JUnited!
Side Note(s):
- This post is Day 31 (last day!) of the WeblogPoMo2024 challenge.
- A lot of really great posts that I came across this month but due to life, I haven’t been able to read all of them as they were posted. I have bookmarked them and will continue reading + supporting. Some of them will most likely be showcased as part of JUnited.
- I tried to click on that Kudos button every chance I got if it was added to your post. I, too, want you to know that you are heard.
