So, Bearblog?

blogging

I get distracted by new, shiny things often, and at times get super antsy to jump ship to something different.  I'm feeling that a bit right now as I find myself playing with Bear blog a bit more.

Although it looks minimal at its core, I'm surprised that it actually gives you a bit of control should you choose to exercise it.

  • The ability to have a static homepage, and a blog post separately in the nav bar (similar to Pika, and I think Mb?)
  • Selecting a theme and enhancing it via CSS. Just give me the ability to change my font, color and size. I’ve been sorely missing this on Scribbles. I just really want my monospace font, pretty please.
  • The built in analytics is really, pretty cool. I’m (probably) not going to action upon any numbers collected, but as someone who deals with metrics a lot, they fascinate me.

There are other things, and personal reasons that are tempting me to make the switch. However, I did get a lifetime plan here and am practicing self control in not making any rash decisions. I’m on the free plan on Bear blog (no photo uploads for now, which I’m OK with), which is enough at the moment. I do know that I still want to play around with the posting workflow there because I am not finding it as intuitive as Scribbles. We’ll see.

I guess this is all to say that I haven’t fully made a decision yet. I want to avoid moving unnecessarily, but there are things I’m contemplating on… some that are mentioned above.

Decisions, decisions.
